Donald Trump Jr. hits Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) describing him as a “mentally declining pro-amnesty turtle” amid the unveiling of the controversial border “betrayal” bill.
Don Jr. threw punches against McConnell on Sunday and said, “Why do Senate Republicans continue to allow themselves to be led by a mentally declining pro-amnesty turtle?”
House Republicans ridiculed McConnell for conniving with the Democrats to draft legislation that only authorized the entry of illegal migrants into the country and backed Biden’s war funding in Ukraine and Israel.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and House Speaker Mike Johnson were quick to strike down the bill once the U.S. Senate approved it.
Scalise quipped on Sunday, “Let me be clear: The Senate Border Bill will NOT receive a vote in the House. Here’s what the people pushing this ‘deal’ aren’t telling you: It accepts 5,000 illegal immigrants a day and gives automatic work permits to asylum recipients—a magnet for more illegal immigration.”
For Johnson, the bill will be “dead on arrival” as soon as it reaches the House.
“I’ve seen enough. This bill is even worse than we expected, and won’t come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created. As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, ‘the border never closes,” the House Speaker added.
Many slammed the Senate for attempting to hastily pass the bill without reading through the provision. Senator Chuck Schumer pushes the floor to vote on Wednesday.
While debates on the legislation occurred for months, the Senate only released the document publicly on Sunday, which they entitled, “Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024.
The 370-page bill reveals a multi-billion dollar funding to allocate primarily to Ukraine and Israel, while only allocating a measly $20 billion on border security.
Breitbart News reported how the Senate markets the legislation as a “national security” bill, but in truth, was intended to cure President Joe Biden’s depressing poll results for the 2024 presidential race.
For Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-New York), the bill is an “absolute non-starter.”
“This Joe Biden/Chuck Schumer Open Border Bill is an absolute non-starter and will further incentivize thousands of illegals to pour in across our borders daily. House Republicans have already passed HR2 – the Secure Our Border Act, which would actually secure the border and return to the effective Trump policies with the most secure border in our nation’s history,” Stefanik remarked on Sunday.
However, in a surprising update, McConnell announced that he is turning his back on the bill after convincing fellow Republicans to approve the legislation on Monday, claiming that “the political mood in the country has changed.”
