Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., invited her colleague in Congress, Senator Ted Cruz R-Texas, to educate Twitter users on the history of America’s two very opposed political parties. His answers were not what she expected.

The impetus for the Twitter discussion stemmed from Cruz first commenting on the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s (NAACP) travel advisory for Florida that said the state “devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color.”
“This is bizarre. And utterly dishonest.” Cruz stated in a tweet Sunday. “In the 1950s & 1960s, the NAACP did extraordinary good helping lead the civil rights movement. Today, Dr. King would be ashamed of how profoundly they lost their way.”

A user responded with an accusation that Cruz “would’ve been first in line to filibuster against the voting rights act, and the civil rights act,” in the 1950s and ’60s.
“Nonsense. That shameful filibuster was led by Democrats – your party. My party – the Republicans – proudly voted for the Civil Rights Act in much higher percentages than the racist Dems,” Cruz retorted in a tweet.
AOC inserted herself into the dialog by saying, “Why don’t you go ahead and tell people what happened to the parties after that, Ted.”
Cruz then started in and said, “Sure. – First, the Dem party founded the KKK. – Then the Dem party wrote Jim Crow laws. – Then the Dem party filibustered the Civil Rights Act.”
“Today, the Dem party filibusters school choice – trapping millions of Black kids in failing schools. – Today, the Dem party pushed abolishing the police, which results in many more Black lives murdered. – Today, every Dem senator voted against my bill to stop DC from throwing 40% of Black kids out of schools bc of vax mandate,” Cruz continued.
“The Republican Party was founded to oppose slavery. Our first Republican President was Abraham Lincoln, who won the Civil War and ended slavery. It was Republicans who voted for the civil Rights Act in a much higher percentage than racist Dems,” he added.
“Today, we produced the lowest African-American unemployment EVER, under the Trump economic boom. – Today, we produced the lowest African-American poverty levels EVER, under the Trump economic boom,” Cruz continued.
“Today, (in 2017) I passed the largest expansion of federal school choice EVER (making 529 plans cover K-12), over the objection of ever single Senate Dem,” he said.
“Also, just two years ago, the Dem governor of Virginia had put the photo of A MAN DRESSED AS A KKK KLANSMAN on his personal yearbook page. – And today, the sitting Dem President – Joe Biden – gave in 2011 a flowery eulogy for an ‘Exalted Cyclops’ of the KKK,” he stated.
“And to add to all that, the Dem party aggressively supports open borders – which has led to the deaths and brutal assaults of thousands of Hispanics, and @aoc somehow can’t seem to find her White pantsuit to cry over their suffering,” Cruz concluded.
Cruz also went on Fox News and said, the “most racist” southerners “who imposed segregation, who imposed Jim Crow laws, who founded the Klan.”
“The Klan was founded by great many Democrats and now the Democrats just accuse anyone they disagree with of being a racist.”
The Dixiecrats were a segregationist party represented by South Carolina Sen. Strom Thurmond who ran for president in 1948. After Thurmond was defeated, Dixiecrats generally rejoined the Democratic ranks but many white conservative Democrats in the South left the party for the Republican Party following the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964.
“The Democrats are angry and they’re out of their minds,” Cruz said, adding that Democratic senators are “objecting to every single thing — they’re boycotting committee meetings, they’re refusing to show up. They’re just foaming at the mouth practically. And really you know where their anger is directed, it’s not at Republicans — their anger is directed at the American people.”
“When the left doesn’t have any other arguments they go and accuse everyone of being a racist,” Cruz declared, “it is an ugly part of the modern Democratic party.”
All of Cruz’s comments from the Fox interview came after Elizabeth Warren attempted to recite a 1986 letter written by Coretta Scott King, the widow of Martin Luther King Jr. In the letter, King criticized Jeff Sessions’ track record on civil rights.
Republicans on the floor accused Warren of violating Senate rules against impugning another Senator, after which a vote to bar her from continuing was upheld.

There is a lot of errors on both sides of this. Both should learn their facts before they fight over the truth, The North switched from having a lot pf Republicans, to having a lit of Democrats, because there was a lot of racism in the north. While the South went Republicans, because, even though there were a lot of slave owners in the South, there was not actually that much racism. A freed slave could go very good, and some even became Slave owners themselves, in the South. Freed Slaves that made it to the north, on the other hand could not even hardly get a job, and many lived on the streets. They were heavily segregated against in the North, and found it very hard to live. Most of the Democrats, in the South, that were racist, never owned slaves, and had little dealing with Blacks.
This is a different world now then back then, but Democrats are still racist, the KKK, ANTIFA, and BLM, are Democrat terror groups. Democrats use Charity as a means to induce their racism, by keeping the poor reliant on them, thinking they poor and minorities cannot do anything without the Democrats helping them. The none politician Republicans push for people to stand on their own two feet, and will help someone to get there. The Politician Republican will mostly do what the Democrats tell them to do.
