Alec Baldwin has been surfing a tidal wave of bad press lately. He is still on his heels from the already infamous incident on the set of “Rust” when he accidentally shot and killed Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a prop gun.
Now, it seems that Baldwin is the unwitting recipient of another lawsuit that involves, the words “defamation”, “marine”, and “insurrectionist”.
In fact, it is the family of a Marine who was killed defending our country in Afghanistan, thanks to President Joe Biden, that is ultimately seeking damages. It seems the embattled actor made the grave mistake of calling the fallen soldier an insurrectionist and now the family wants recompense.
It is, indeed, being reported that:
The family of a Marine killed in Afghanistan during President Joe Biden’s debacle in Kabul has sued Alec Baldwin for defamation and is asking for $25 million in damages claiming the Hollywood star falsely accused one of Rylee McCollum sisters of being an “insurrectionist.”

The federal suit was filed in the Southern District of New York on Friday by the family of Marine Lance Corporal Rylee J. McCollum.
The family originally filed a suit in Wyoming but that case was dismissed in May because the court said it didn’t have jurisdiction over Baldwin who lives in New York.
“Baldwin’s conduct was negligent and reckless as he should have known that making the allegations he did against Plaintiffs to his millions of followers would cause Plaintiffs harm,” the suit says.
The dispute stems from a post Alec made on his Instagram page. Alec sent the family $5,000 after Rylee died during Biden’s debacle as a “tribute to a fallen soldier.”
Alec later discovered that one of Rylee’s sisters, Roice, was in DC on Jan 6 and posted a picture from the Washington Monument.
“Are you the same woman I sent the $ for your sister’s husband who was killed during the Afghanistan exit?” Baldwin wrote to Roice.
“When I sent the $ for your late brother, out of real respect for his service to this country, I didn’t know you were a January 6th rioter.”
The sister said she never went inside the Capitol, was peacefully protesting, and was already interviewed by the FBI who did not charge her.
“Your activities resulted in the unlawful destruction of government property, the death of a law enforcement officer, an assault on the certification of the presidential election.
I reposted your photo. Good luck,” Baldwin wrote and after that, the hate mail came fast and furious prompting the lawsuit,
The Los Angeles Daily News went on to report that:
“Within 20 minutes of Baldwin’s post,” the lawsuit says, “Roice began to get hostile, aggressive, hateful messages from Baldwin’s followers.” Cheyenne and Jiennah McCollum reported receiving similar messages, though they had not been at the Jan. 6 event.
The suit says Roice McCollum protested peacefully and legally and, after being interviewed by FBI agents, was not accused of any crime.
So, the sharks are indeed circling around Mr. Baldwin. It seems that he can simply do no right. Let us not forget that the Halyna Hutchins death, not quite sure we can say the word “murder” yet, it still hanging over Baldwin’s head.
It was just last month that we reported that Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza Alec Baldwin might be on the hook for various criminal charges. He also said that there were definite signs of complacency on the set of “Rust”. Follow The Raging Patriot for more on this story as it develops!
