MSNBC Stunned as Sondland Shifts Support to Trump, Criticizes Biden-Harris Policies

In a surprising turn of events, Gordon Sondland, the former U.S. ambassador to the European Union and a key witness in Donald Trump’s first impeachment, announced his intention to support the Republican nominee in the upcoming election. This revelation came during a segment on MSNBC, where host Ari Melber expressed his astonishment at Sondland’s shift in stance.

Sondland, who previously testified against Trump in 2019 regarding allegations of withholding Ukraine funding to pressure President Volodymyr Zelensky into launching investigations into Joe and Hunter Biden, has undergone a notable transformation in his political views. During the discussion, Melber reminded Sondland of his rejection of Trump following the January 6 Capitol attack and inquired whether he still held that position.

“No, I don’t stand by it and I’ll tell you why,” Sondland responded, indicating a significant change in his perspective. He elaborated on his reasoning, stating, “I’ve now lived four years under the Biden-Harris policies and I have to say that those policies are not only becoming an existential threat to our country’s way of life, but to our allies as well.”

Melber, clearly taken aback, pressed Sondland further. “I’m going to let you finish, but this is so striking. You said it was a ‘no for me’ after that, after January 6. And here we are right now and you’re saying it’s a yes for you?” he asked.

Sondland affirmed his new position, declaring, “It’s a yes, for me. It is an absolute yes for me.” He attributed his change of heart to the perceived failures of the current administration, arguing that the Biden-Harris team has mishandled their responsibilities.

As the conversation continued, Melber pointed out that Sondland had previously suggested that the events of January 6 represented a significant threat to democracy. “The whole point you seem to be making was that January 6th and that kind of attack on democracy is bigger than any policy,” Melber noted.

In response, Sondland countered, “I am seeing so many attacks on democracy that eclipse Jan. 6th.” He emphasized the importance of policy in shaping the nation’s future, stating, “Policy matters greatly.”

Sondland did not shy away from criticizing Trump’s actions on January 6, acknowledging, “What I want to say is, what Donald Trump did on January 6 was not an exemplary thing and I already said he lost the election, he should have admitted he lost the election and moved on.” However, he maintained that after experiencing the Biden-Harris administration’s policies, Trump’s presidency appears more favorable in retrospect.

Reflecting on his own experiences in Portland, Oregon, Sondland lamented the impact of current policies on his community. “Absolutely decimated. Businesses are suffering. My own business is suffering solely for political reasons, and it’s all fixable and they don’t want to fix it,” he concluded, underscoring the urgency of addressing the challenges facing the nation.
