Musk Highlights Voter ID Discrepancies in Harris-Won States

Elon Musk, the owner of X and a vocal supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, recently shared a screenshot from a Newsmax broadcast that has sparked considerable discussion. The graphic, featured on Thursday’s “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE,” displayed a state-by-state map indicating that nearly all states won by Vice President Kamala Harris lack voter ID laws.

“Must be a coincidence 🙄,” Musk tweeted on Sunday, drawing attention to the implications of the map, which underscores the concerns of election integrity advocates within the Republican Party.

During the “Culture Clash” segment, host Carl Higbie remarked, “I find it funny that almost all the states that Harris won don’t require photo I.D.” He then encouraged his audience to take a closer look at the map.

Comedian Shawn Farash, known for his Trump impersonations, added his perspective, exclaiming, “Wow, wow!” He continued, “It’s almost like where it’s easier to cheat, the cheaters win. I never would have thought.” Farash also referenced a CNN map, stating, “But my favorite map was the one on CNN: ‘Here’s a map of all the counties that Kamala Harris outperformed Joe Biden,’ and there was nothing there.” He concluded with a shocked, “None?!”

In the context of voter ID laws, it’s important to note that while Trump secured victories in all key battleground states, including Pennsylvania—where Newsmax was the first network to call the race for him at 1:23 a.m. ET on Wednesday—Pennsylvania’s laws stipulate that only first-time voters in a district must present identification. As the state law reads, “Returning voters need not show any identification unless otherwise noted in the poll book.”

Higbie also highlighted recent developments in voter ID legislation, stating, “Iowa, Idaho, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin all passed an amendment that requires citizenship in order to vote.” He added, “Noble concept, right?”

Among the states that Harris won and do not require voter ID, the map included (in alphabetical order): California, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington. Additionally, there were four states that Harris won which require non-photo ID: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, and Virginia. Notably, New Hampshire and Rhode Island were the only two states in the Northeast to vote against Trump while still requiring voter ID.

The graphic also omitted Hawaii, a state that generally does not require voter ID and was easily won by Harris. The ongoing debate surrounding voter ID laws continues to be a focal point for Republicans advocating for election integrity.
