Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to make headlines as he makes an intriguing choice between Trump and Biden in an interview with the state-owned television channel Russia-1 on Wednesday.
The show asked Putin who he thinks would be better for Moscow: “Biden,” the Kremlin leader directly replied.
Putin claims that Biden is “more experienced,” and thus he is “more predictable.” He also called him an “old-school politician.”
These remarks came after Biden hit Trump for yielding to Russia and called for Congress to railroad financial aid to Ukraine.
The Russian president also discussed Biden’s mental health, he said: “[T]hey were already saying Biden wasn’t competent [in 202 ]… but I saw nothing of the sort. Yes, he looked at his notes, and to be honest, I looked at mine. No big deal. So he banged his head on the helicopter when he was getting out of it — who of us hasn’t banged their head on something?”
It also followed a recent bombshell report from investigative journalists Michael Shellenberger and Matt Taibbi. Thorough research led Shellenberger and Taibbi to conclude that the alleged Trump-Russian Collusion was not a result of foreign intelligence but rather an outright operation led by the CIA under the Obama-Biden administration.
However, President Donald Trump takes no offense to Putin’s statement and even considers it a compliment.
In a campaign rally in South Carolina, the leading Republican nominee said, ” President Putin of Russia has just given me a great compliment actually. He’s just said that he would much rather have Joe Biden as president than Trump. Now that’s a compliment. A lot of people said, ‘Oh gee, that’s too bad.’ No, no, that’s a good thing.”
“I got along good with him [Putin], but he doesn’t want to have me. He wants to have Biden because he’s going to be given everything he wants, including Ukraine. That’s a gift, he’s got a gift, he’s going to have his dream of getting Ukraine because of Biden. The whole thing is just crazy … The only president in the last five that hasn’t given Russia anything is a president known as Donald J. Trump.”
Trump also highlighted that during his presidency, he paused the construction of Nord Stream 2, a German-Russian controlled pipeline extracting natural gas from Russia to Europe.
During an interview with Tucker Carlson last week, the Russian president told Washington to stop sending weapons to Ukraine and urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to sit down and negotiate.
“We have never refused negotiations,” Mr Putin said.
He further said, “You should tell the current Ukrainian leadership to stop and come to a negotiating table.”
