ESPN host and sports commentator Stephen Smith throws criticism at liberals for bombarding former president Donald Trump with false charges, saying that the left is “scared” and they “can’t beat him on the issues.”
In an episode of “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” the ESPN host shares his take on the ongoing hush money trial against Trump, which was filed against him by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
As the hearing continued its jury selection, Smith remarked that Trump’s rivals almost admitted that they could not beat him in an election, so they had to resort to weaponizing the law against the former president.
During the podcast, Smith thundered, “It’s much ado about nothing.”
“To my liberal friends out there, all you’re doing is showing that you’re scared you can’t beat him on the issues and merits.”
The sports commentator added that this was the reason that Trump “keeps saying it’s a political campaign against me.”
“That’s why he keeps saying they can’t beat me at the election, at the polls. This is the only way they can do it,” he added.
Smith further said that this lawfare would only lead to further division, especially if the left fails to convict Trump. He predicted that there wouldn’t be “peace” in the country.
“And if you don’t put him in jail, and he still goes from being the presumptive GOP nominee to the official GOP nominee, and he goes to the polls, even though he was going to whine about winning and being rigged again, you have given more fodder to that argument, which means we’ll never have peace in this country.”
“Because tens of millions of people see to what extent the other side is willing to go through just to keep him out of office because they can’t beat him on their own merits,” the ESPN host said.
Smith further lamented that the Democratic Party is too focused on court cases to derail Trump’s campaign instead of finding a better and more capable replacement that could beat the presumptive Republican nominee.
“Four indictments, 91 counts, and the man gets more campaign dollars, climbing in the polls, okay?” he furthered.
“And last time I checked, he still ain’t been in cuffs, he still ain’t been put behind bars, and he’s the presumptive GOP nominee. You can’t stop him. You cannot stop him.”
“And so for me, I find myself ashamed of the Democratic Party for their lack of competitive fervor,” he added.
“You had since 2016 to come up with somebody else, and you still can’t do it? That is pathetic. It is pathetic,” he said. “And there is no excuse for it whatsoever.”
“You can’t beat [Trump],” Smith remarked.
“Everything you do shows me you can’t beat him. It’s a damn shame. It really, really is. It’s embarrassing.”

Agree…the DNC has needlessly spent millions of taxpayer dollars on manufactured investigations that went no where so the only thing left in their bag of tricks is to try and financially break the man by getting these loyal overpaid politicians to file charges to tie him up with useless litigation hoping to keep him tied up in court past Election Day..they know what ever they convict him of will be tossed by the Supreme Court but the process takes time for it to get there..and their last hope is to keep him jailed so he would lose the election but they are hoping he won’t win otherwise he can give himself a presidential pardon then all of these overpaid politically appointed bureaucrats will be losing their do nothing $100k+ jobs including those democratic appointed useless joint chiefs of staff who currently want our military members to concentrate on proper use of gender pronouns instead of how to keep your troop’s alive…
Trump is the better candidate by far. Take away the false charges and you have yourself a great president. Did you notice the Democrats never talk about Trump’s presidency? Because they know he was excellent! They also never talk about Biden’s accomplishments, because there are none! Everything he has done has damaged the country. Biden has sold out the US. He is done.
