Sunny Hostin is forced to read a legal letter by Matt Gaetz’ legal team

In a recent episode of ABC’s The View, co-host Sunny Hostin found herself in hot water after making unfounded allegations against Congressman Matt Gaetz, suggesting he was involved in sex trafficking. This prompted her to read a legal note live on air, attempting to clarify her statements.

During the broadcast, Hostin questioned, “How could you nominate someone with allegations of child trafficking across state lines and having sex with a 17-year-old?” She further added, “My understanding further on in the interview they discuss the fact that once he found out she was 17 he stopped having sex with her.”

However, Hostin’s claims were met with a swift rebuttal. She was required to read a statement that underscored Gaetz’s denial of all allegations against him. “Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations, calling the claims invented and saying in a statement to NBC News that this false smear following a three year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism,” she stated. Additionally, she noted, “The DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought.”

Gaetz, a staunch conservative from Florida, has been nominated by former President Donald Trump to serve as Attorney General, a position that would empower him to address corruption within the Department of Justice. Reports indicate that Trump is personally invested in ensuring Gaetz’s confirmation, having reached out to several Republican Senators to advocate for his nomination.

Among those contacted was North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer, who remarked, “He clearly wants Matt Gaetz.” Cramer elaborated, “He believes Matt Gaetz is the one person who will have the fearlessness and ferociousness, really, to do what needs doing at the Department of Justice.”

Cramer also emphasized the sincerity of Trump’s support, stating, “One thing about Donald Trump, people should never confuse his support for one of his nominees as a tactical or strategic tool for somebody else. And at least to this point, he’s putting his own political capital behind it. And he’s a pretty persuasive guy.”

As the narrative unfolds, it is clear that the political landscape surrounding Gaetz’s nomination is charged, and the implications of Hostin’s remarks may have lasting repercussions.
