“Welcome to the Free State of Florida!” greets Casey DeSantis as she welcomes actor Sylvester Stallone and his wife in Florida.
“In addition to respecting and protecting your God-given, constitutional right to be free, you can also buy toothpaste without having an armed guard in CVS unlock it for you,” she added.
Stallone announced this decision in the latest episode of The Family Stallone.
While at the dining table, the infamous actor talked to his daughters and said, “After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided it’s time to move on and leave the state of California permanently and we’re going to go to Florida.”
The father of three girls emphasized that this is a “done deal” and that they already have acquired a place.
Stallone’s wife, Jennifer Flavin, who shared their plans to transfer residence last year, said that she was really happy with the move and had nothing left in the Golden State.
“I was born and raised there, two of our kids were born there, but now everyone’s out, our daughters moved to the East Coast … so there wasn’t really anything left for me in California,” she continued. “A few of our best friends also moved, so I think it’s [a] good change, just making new friends, living a totally different lifestyle. I love it. I’m really happy,” Flavin said.
The “Rambo” actor resided in California since the 1970s when he began his acting career. Flavin and Stallone met in Beverly Hills.
The longtime couple, almost headed for divorce in August 2022 but called it off a month later.
Their daughters — Sophia Rose, Sistine, and Scarlet Rose were there when they announced the big move. Their youngest daughter wasn’t as excited as her two other sisters.
Scarlet Rose insisted that California is her “home.”
Their mother explained when they all went to college, the house seemed like an “empty nest,” so she needed to “change it up.”
“I raised all three of our daughters in California. Everything’s a memory to me — memories of them not being there anymore. So I needed a big change, and Sly went along with it.”
The Stallones were among thousands who left California for another state. In 2022, the census reported that at least 51,000 Californians packed up and left the Golden State for Florida.
Under Gov. Gavin Newsom’s leadership, California’s population shrunk by 500,000.
Among the reasons for the move were politics, housing costs, crime, and taxes.
