Trump Appeals Outrageous Verdict in NYC Civil Fraud Case

“It’s not gonna work, number one. Number two, what they’re doing is a scare tactic,” blasted Donald Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, as they filed an appeal on the multimillion-dollar verdict by radical Marxist Judge Arthur Engoron.

The notice of appeal filed in the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division on Monday noted that the penalties had already skyrocketed to $464 million. It states, “This appeal is taken from each and every part of the judgment insofar as defendants are aggrieved.”

Trump’s lawyer also pleaded appeals court to overturn Engoron’s decision and determine whether he abused his discretion and/or his jurisdiction.

The hefty penalty imposed by Judge Engoron will increase daily by $112,000 until Trump pays if the appeals court upholds the decision.

The former president exclaimed that he was prosecuted for “having built a perfect company, great cash, great buildings, great everything.”

Trump’s legal team is confident that the court of appeals “will ultimately correct the innumerable and catastrophic errors made by a trial court untethered to the law or to reality.”

If the court favored Engoron, Habba said, “it will serve as a signal to every single American that New York is no longer open for business.”

New York Attorney General Letitia “Peekaboo” James during her failed campaign pledged “to get” Trump. She sued the former president and other associates from the Trump organization for civil fraud, saying he inflated the values of his assets to secure loans from banks and insurers.

However, Trump had all paid these loans and had no problem with the banks, rendering James’ case as nothing but a witchhunt with no actual victims and no “fraud” involved.

Engoron’s decision, as well as the $83 million verdict issued by Judge Lewis Kaplan, which the GOP leader will pay to E. Jean Carroll for damages, were criticized by numerous scholars and business owners.

Legal scholar Jonathan Turley described the ruling as “confiscatory, extreme and abusive.”

Turley also blasted the requirement to deposit rule imposed by Engoron’s court, which he said “magnifies the unfairness of this New York law that does not require that anyone actually lose money to claim hundreds of millions from a company.”

Other critics mentioned that the penalties were excessive.

Meanwhile, Trump praised investor and Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary for questioning the New York ruling.

“Kevin O’Leary is so great and tells it like it is. Businesses will flee NYC & State after the Corrupt Judge’s ruling!”

Earlier last week, the O’Leary Ventures chairman said, “I’m no different than any investor, I’m shocked at this. I can’t even understand or fathom the decision at all. There’s no rationale for it.”

“It doesn’t matter what the governor says, New York was already a loser state, like California is a loser state. There are a lot of loser states because of policy, high taxes, uncompetitive regulation,” O’Leary said. “I would never invest in New York now and I’m not the only person saying that.”
