Trump Impersonator Storms Off ‘No Kings’ Protest After Journalist Confronts Him on Kamala Harris’ Nomination

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A protester dressed as Donald Trump abruptly walked away from Saturday’s “No Kings” demonstration after independent journalist Nick Sortor pressed him on why he preferred Kamala Harris to J.D. Vance as a potential leader.

The incident, captured on video and widely shared online, occurred amid one of the largest anti-Trump protests since the former president’s second inauguration. Thousands gathered under the “No Kings” banner to denounce what organizers called an assault on democracy and the rule of law, chanting “no one is above the law” as they marched.

Sortor, known for on-the-ground reporting at political events, approached the man — fully costumed in a red tie, dark suit, and signature hairstyle — and asked a straightforward question: Would he rather have Kamala Harris or J.D. Vance in charge?

The impersonator immediately endorsed Harris. “Kamala Harris,” he declared without hesitation.

Sortor followed up by noting a key fact about the 2024 Democratic nomination process: After President Biden withdrew from the race on July 21, 2024, Harris became the nominee without a single vote being cast for her in any primary or caucus. Delegates who had originally been pledged to Biden simply switched their support at the convention.

The protester grew visibly agitated. He insisted that “half the country supported her,” but when Sortor reminded him that no Democratic primary voters had actually chosen her as the nominee, the man turned and stormed off, refusing to engage further.

The exchange has drawn sharp reactions online, with critics calling it a revealing moment of cognitive dissonance. While the protester wore Trump’s likeness to mock the president, he appeared to defend the very nomination process that Democrats themselves once criticized when it benefited Republicans. Many pointed out the irony: a demonstration built around the slogan “no one is above the law” featured a participant who seemed unwilling to acknowledge that no primary voters selected the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.

The video underscores ongoing tensions in post-election America. Supporters of the Trump administration have repeatedly highlighted what they describe as inconsistencies in Democratic claims about “democracy” — particularly the lack of a contested primary for Harris after Biden’s late withdrawal. Meanwhile, protest organizers maintain that the real threat to democratic norms lies in Trump’s policies and rhetoric.

As of Monday morning, the clip continues to circulate on social media, fueling fresh debates about the 2024 election cycle and the standards both parties apply to the nomination process. Neither Harris nor the Democratic National Committee has commented on the specific incident.

The “No Kings” protests are expected to continue in various cities throughout the week as opposition groups organize against the second Trump administration.
