In the upcoming weekend, the former president will make history in Detroit, Michigan, one of the deep blue states that his campaign intends to paint red.
He will attend the People’s Convention of Turning Point Action and visit a local black church to hold a town hall-style event, which Rep. Byron Donalds will moderate.
Turning Point Action organizers describe the event as “the natural focal point of the national conservative political movement ahead of the 2024 election.”
“Attendees will leave equipped with the tools, knowledge, and network to lead their communities and win in November,” the hosts shared.
The agenda includes “holding our politicians accountable, stopping unfair influence on our elections, engaging voters of color in the conservative movement,” and more.
Among the attendees were former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Charlie Kirk, Candace Owens, and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.
Scheduled at the same time was a MAGA boat parade in honor of Trump’s 78th birthday.
The Michigan Conservative Coalition spearheaded the event and will mobilize 1,000 vessels, including private boats, tugboats, and seaplanes.
According to Karoline Leavitt, this move represents Trump’s pattern of visiting the “heart of deep blue territories in this country to talk to voters and bring his winning message to them.”
“He’s going to take questions from attendees at the church and hear their concerns about how Democrats who’ve been running Detroit and Michigan—and Democrat-run cities all over this country—have been running into the ground for decades based on empty promises that they never deliver on.”
Leavitt continued, “President Trump’s message uplifts all Americans regardless of race [and] religion. You’re going to hear him talk about that tonight in Michigan,” she continued, later noting that Trump is performing extremely well among younger voters as well, which is very bad for Democrats.”
The roundtable on the weekend will be held at 180 Church, 13660 Stansbury Ave., on Detroit’s west side,” as reported by the Detroit News. “Doors open at 1 p.m. The event will begin at about 4 p.m.”
According to a press release from Trump’s campaign, the former president will visit Detroit to “discuss how Joe Biden has failed the great people of Detroit and the State of Michigan.”
Michigan is generally considered one of several top battleground states that will decide the outcome of this year’s presidential election.
