World Leaders on a Frenzy as Trump Stages Comeback

With the waves of support gathered by President Donald Trump, world leaders have no choice but to gear for the fact that the former president is definitely making a comeback.

One geopolitical expert, president of Eurasia Group Ian Bremmer, expressed that European leaders are in “sheer panic” as Trump inches closer to reelection.

Bremmer, who attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, shared: “I mean, there’s a lot of ice out there. Right under the ice — just under the ice — is sheer panic on the part of certainly every European leader you may have seen.”

The expert told Yahoo Finance that “everyone’s talking about it.”

One person who’s probably shaking now is Zelensky, who knows fully well that Trump is not likely to back his war against Russia.

Trump, said Bremmer, “considers Zelensky a personal and political enemy.”

Trump had earlier questioned why the US is involved in the Ukraine-Russia conflict when the former wasn’t even part of NATO.

Just yesterday, the GOP leader retold his conversation with the president of an unidentified NATO member. Trump said that he would encourage Russia “to do whatever the hell they want” if the NATO member fails to fulfill its obligations to the alliance.

“You didn’t pay? You’re delinquent?” Trump said.

“No, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want.’ You gotta pay! You gotta pay your bills.”

President Joe Biden, on the other hand, claims that world leaders have been pushing him to win the race, saying “You’ve got to win. We can’t let [Trump] happen again.”

Canadian Prime Minister sounded alarm for Trump’s comeback while claiming that his government was preparing for “uncertainty.”

Meanwhile, European Central Bank Chief Christine Lagarde called Trump’s resurgence a “threat” to Europe.

‘If we are to draw lessons from history, looking at the way he ran the first four years of his mandate, it’s clearly a threat,’ Lagarde said.

‘Just look at the trade tariffs, the commitment to NATO, the fight against climate change. In these three areas alone in the past, American interests have not been aligned with those of Europe,’ she added.

However, some leaders opted to be more diplomatic, with French President Emmanuel Macron saying “I take the leaders that people give me.”

Even in Asia, Trump’s comeback raises concerns in South Korea as he threatens to withdraw troops and impose an import tax.

But several still-reigning leaders, such as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Polish President Andrzej Duda, are looking forward to his return.
